HSCHT carry out questionnaire based surveys in over 20 Community Council areas a year. Every permanently resident household in the community concerned receives a questionnaire which invites the householder not only to indicate whether anyone in the household has a housing need but also what housing options they are looking for to meet their needs. The questionnaire also asks every householder – whether they have a housing need or not – to express their views on what kinds of housing options they would, or would not, like to see provided in their community.
In addition to the evidence gathered form the returned questionnaires, the Trust also gathers other relevant published evidence on demographic trends, waiting lists and re let times, local house prices etc to provide relevant contextual information which forms part of the final survey report presented to the Community Council and affordable housing agencies.
