We give the following pledge to each community we are asked to help:
The Trust will only take action on behalf of a community after fully discussing and agreeing the matter with its Community Council or - if there is no Community Council - with the most similar democratically representative local organisation.
Working with community councils etc.
By working closely in and with the communities we exist to serve and in particular, their Community Councils, the Trust has helped many of them understand how the publicly funded housing system can best be used to address local needs.
In the first instance, Trust staff will provide high quality information and independent advice to communities with housing problems.
We are always happy to meet up with local people and their representative groups to discuss local needs and opportunities.
It may be that good advice and moral support are all that are required, or it may be that the Trust is asked to play a bigger part. In any event, we will only intervene on a community's behalf in ways that have been fully discussed and agreed with the Community Council (or other similarly representative local body).
